...the home for digital support and skills development across Epping Forest!
Power UP! Epping is a UK government funded partnership initiative that seeks to reduce the digital divide in the Epping Forest district.
From digital support walk-in surgeries… to skills workshops… hardware device and data donation schemes… - together, we seek to “POWER UP” people’s digital experience!
Power UP! Epping is a partnership set up by Epping Forest District Council and Voluntary Action Epping Forest that seeks to bring stakeholders and the local community together, to improve local digital inclusion.
Research undertaken in 2019 revealed approximately 21,000 adults (16%) of the Epping Forest district population had either never used the internet, or not used the internet over a 3-month period.
Digital exclusion can have a detrimental impact on every area of life; from employment prospects, to health management, to independent living and leisure. Power UP! Epping brings together stakeholders from primary care, DWP, local authorities and community / voluntary sector partners, as part of an Epping Forest Digital Inclusion Network (DIN).
By providing digital support in the community, including reconditioned hardware, wifi data and skills workshops, we seek to remove the barriers to full digital inclusion.

There are different ways that you can get involved…
Do you have an old smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC, in good working condition that you no longer use?... If so, please consider donating it to the Power UP! Project.
Our Digital Champions will clean and restore it, and provide it to a person / household that currently does not have regular personal access to digital hardware.
Digital devices can be dropped off at EFDC Civic Offices reception, 323 Epping High Street, CM16 4BZ, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Do you have basic digital skills and an interest in helping others near where you live?... The Power UP! Project is looking for Digital Champion volunteers to help run workshops and walk-in digital support surgeries, across the Epping Forest district.
You will receive training and access to digital skills tools and platforms to help you make a difference in other people's digital lives.
Volunteering can be at flexible times that work for you, with no minimum commitment.
